The Problem

“I Remember” is a passion project that I started earlier this year. As a senior UX designer, I’ve always been driven to create solutions that make a real difference, but this project holds special meaning for me. “I Remember” is a mock-up app designed to support dementia caregivers by helping them preserve and share precious memories with their loved ones. This project showcases my ability to think outside the box, blending creativity with user-centered design to address a deeply personal and emotional challenge.

Understanding the Users

To ensure that “I Remember” truly met the needs of its users, I conducted interviews with caregivers and families affected by dementia. These conversations helped me identify key pain points and design features that would offer real value, such as quick access to cherished memories and a mode tailored for elderly users.

From Idea to Prototype

The design process began with sketching out ideas and wireframes, followed by the creation of a high-fidelity prototype. I focused on ensuring the app was accessible and intuitive, with features like a simple dashboard, quick-view mode, and the ability to tag team with family members for memory updates.

    Balancing Innovation with Usability

One of the main challenges was creating an app that was both innovative and easy for elderly users to navigate. By incorporating features like story mode and voice-guided prompts, I was able to design an experience that was both user-friendly and engaging.

    A Creative Mock-Up with Potential

“I Remember” is not a fully developed app but a detailed mock-up with the potential to be built into a real product. This project is a testament to my ability to create meaningful solutions that resonate on a personal level, combining innovative design with a deep understanding of user needs.

Reflection: A Project Close to My Heart

“I Remember” is not just another design project; it is an ongoing passion project that continues to grow and evolve. This work is deeply personal, rooted in my own experiences with dementia in my family, and I have poured my heart into its development. While I actively work on it when time allows, I see it as a project with limitless potential to expand and reach more users in the future. I would be delighted to share a full presentation and discuss how this project could make a meaningful impact.
